Parent leads Kingsville to shutout victory over Mooretown

Lane Parent made 31 saves to complete the shutout and led the Kingsville Comets to a 5-0 win against the Mooretown Flags.

Justin Parker had one goal and three assists to lead Kingsville. Parker scored short handed 4:21 into the third period to make the score 5-0 Kingsville. An interference call on Colin Hamilton put the Comets on the penalty kill. Devin Shannon assisted on the tally.

Kingsville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 10 Mooretown power plays. The Comets' offense rang up 41 shots on Mooretown's net. Kingsville outdid its season average for goals scored. The Comets have scored at the pace of 2.9 goals per game during the current campaign. Kingsville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

Kingsville also got points from Tyler Kirby, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Kingsville also had goals scored by Ryan Desjarlais, who had one and Mark Sobocan, who had two. In addition, Kingsville received assists from Connor Rennie, Kyle Morand, and Mark Fratarcangeli, who each chipped in one.

The Flags did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Mooretown averages 3.4 goals per game. The Flags forced the Comets goalie Parent to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Kingsville registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For the Comets, Zach Ross was ejected from the game. Braden Palocz rejected 36 shots on goal for Mooretown. The Flags incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Mooretown ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mike Burns was ejected from the game.
