Manchurek leads Belle River over Wallaceburg, 6-1

The Belle River Canadiens' Mark Manchurek had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing three assists in his team's 6-1 win over the Wallaceburg Lakers.

Manchurek found the back of the net 8:26 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Belle River and again while on the power play 1:39 into the third to make the score 4-1 Belle River.

Belle River was led by goalie Zakk Olvin, who finished with 29 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Olvin will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.41.

The Canadiens' offense rang up 58 shots on Wallaceburg's net. Belle River surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Canadiens average 3.7 goals per game. Belle River was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to two goals off of 10 man advantages.

Belle River additionally got points from Chris DiNatale, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Andrew Synnott also scored for Belle River. In addition, Belle River received assists from Billy Eansor, Mike Ditty, Aidan Wiebenga, Jason Clarke, Brenden Crundwell, Richard Dunning, and Jordan Luciw, who contributed one a piece.

The Lakers' offense operated below they season average. Wallaceburg puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. The Lakers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Wallaceburg finished with 27 penalty minutes.

The Lakers were led by Sam Jasmin, who scored the team's only goal. Jasmin scored 12:56 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jake Carter picked up the assist.

The Canadiens ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For Belle River, Donnovan Plummer was ejected from the game. Joel Sowinski rejected 52 shots on goal for Wallaceburg. The Lakers registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Wallaceburg ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Scott Lubbers was ejected from the game.
