Blenheim outlasts Dresden, 3-2Blenheim Memorial Arena Sun, Jan 20, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Blenheim Blades escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Dresden Kings. Blenheim gained the winning advantage on a goal by Zach Mailloux 33 seconds into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Mailloux had two goals to lead the Blades to victory. Blenheim additionally got points from Tyler Clarke, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Blenheim received assists from Bowe Shepley, Taylor Phillips, Matt Speed, and Mackenzie Dick, who contributed one a piece. Dresden was helped by Wade Esselman, who had one goal. Esselman scored on the power play 16:22 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Kings had gotten the advantage when Blenheim's Jordan Durston was sent off for roughing. Cody McPhail picked up the assist. Dresden also got a goal from Alex Ritchie as well. Other players who recorded assists for Dresden were John Montgomery and Macks Holmes, who each chipped in one. Dylan Vanderpol made 26 saves for the Blades on 28 shots. Blenheim incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Brent Paxton recorded 20 saves for Dresden. The Kings totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-7 on the power play. For Dresden, Holmes was ejected from the game.
