Wallaceburg wins tough contest against Mooretown, 8-6Mooretown Rink 1 Sat, Jan 19, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wallaceburg Lakers and the Mooretown Flags were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Wallaceburg made the most of its opportunities and won, 8-6. The Lakers gained the winning advantage on a goal by Jake Carter 12:41 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. With four goals and three assists between them, Sam Jasmin and Carter teamed up to power Wallaceburg's offense. Jasmin racked up two goals and three assists and Carter also added two goals. The Lakers forced Mooretown goalie Brandon Johnson to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots. Wallaceburg surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Lakers average 3.2 goals per game. Wallaceburg additionally got points from Scott Lubbers, who also registered two goals and two assists and Justin Whitson, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Wallaceburg also got a goal from Brennan Rainey as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wallaceburg were Lucais Meyskens, Kyle Havens, Bobby Domin, and Jeff Nolfo, who each chipped in one. Wallaceburg was unable to stop the Flags from sending pucks towards the net, and Mooretown eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. The Flags bested their season scoring average. Mooretown has scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign. The Flags were helped by Jeff Schroeter, who finished with three goals and one assist. Mooretown also got points from Mike Burns, who also grabbed one goal and three assists. Ryan Jennings also scored for Mooretown. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Jordan Orth and Riley Roberts, who contributed one a piece and McGregor Haddon and Travis Mullen, who each chipped in two. Joel Sowinski rejected 35 shots on goal for the Lakers. Wallaceburg incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mooretown's Johnson stopped 37 shots out of the 44 that he faced. The Flags incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
