Dresden downs Mooretown, 5-2Ken Houston Memorial Arena Fri, Jan 18, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Taylor Sisson had one point to lead the Dresden Kings to a 5-2 victory over the Mooretown Flags. Dresden kept Mooretown's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Johnson made 34 saves on 39 shots. The Kings had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 14 chances. Dresden found itself short handed often, totaling 58 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays. Dresden additionally got points from Dylan Mertz, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Macks Holmes, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Dresden also got a goal from Derek VanEvery as well. In addition, Dresden received assists from Josh Beatty and Alex Schmidt, who each chipped in one. The Flags forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 12 minors and two majors for 84 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 25.0 minutes per game Mooretown had been spending in the box. The Flags were led by Travis Mullen, who racked up one goal and one assist. Mullen scored on the power play 11:21 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Mooretown earned a power play opportunity when Mertz was put in the box for high sticking. Dan Lumley picked up the assist. Mike Burns also scored for Mooretown. More assists for Mooretown came via Jeff Schroeter and Matt Brandon, who contributed one a piece. The Kings' Brent Paxton stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. For Dresden, Wade Esselman was ejected from the game. Team's Calab Harse, David Addley, and Frankie White were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
