Blenheim survives Kingsville comeback, wins 4-3

The Kingsville Comets tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the Blenheim Blades would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Blenheim took a 4-0 lead during the second period, only to have Kingsville storm back on a Daniel Beaudion goal 19:19 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Blades pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 46 penalty minutes.

Blenheim excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. The Blades kept the Comets' goalie busy throughout the game, and Marcus Rees made 35 saves on 39 shots.

Blenheim was led by Zach Mailloux, who had two goals. Mailloux scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Blenheim. The Blades had gained a power play chance when Beaudion was whistled for tripping. Bowe Shepley picked up the assist. Mailloux's next tally on the power play made the score 2-0 Blenheim with 5:16 left in the first period. Blenheim had gotten the advantage when Kingsville's Beaudion was sent off for head contact. Owen Bateman provided the assist. Blenheim also got a goal from Justin Rossignol as well. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Jake ONeil and Tyler Clarke, who contributed one a piece.

The Comets could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 68 minutes in penalties during the game.

Kingsville also got points from Justin Parker, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Kingsville came via Mark Fratarcangeli, Mark Sobocan, and Ryan Desjarlais, who each chipped in one.

Dylan Vanderpol rejected 23 shots on goal for the Blades. Blenheim registered two goals on 16 power play opportunities.
