Mooretown holds on for 4-3 win against Kingsville

The Kingsville Comets tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Mooretown Flags would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Mooretown made the score 4-2 on a goal by Mike Burns at 1:14 in the third period, and Kingsville got as close as 4-3 when Steven Spada scored 4:13 into the third period.

Jeff Schroeter had one goal and three assists to lead the Flags. Schroeter scored 1:56 into the second period to make the score 1-1. McGregor Haddon assisted on the tally.

Mooretown excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Mooretown additionally got points from Haddon, who also registered one goal and one assist and Dan Lumley, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Travis Mullen, who had one.

The Flags were unable to stop the Comets from sending pucks towards the net, and Kingsville eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

The Comets were helped by Peter Ducharme, who had one goal. Ducharme scored 9:08 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Zack Brown picked up the assist. Kingsville also got a goal from Robert Jardine as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kingsville were Frank Desjardin, Mark Sobocan, and Daniel Beaudion, who each chipped in one.

Braden Palocz recorded 33 saves for Mooretown. The Flags incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Marcus Rees made 21 saves for Kingsville on 25 shots. The Comets incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Kingsville, Mark Fratarcangeli was ejected from the game.
