Wheatley beats Belle River 5-1 as Woelk gets hat trick

Jon Woelk lifted the Wheatley Sharks to a 5-1 victory with a hat trick against the Belle River Canadiens.

Woelk notched his first tally 5:53 into the first period. He then added goals at 14:51 into the second and at 19:18 into the third.

Wheatley was led by goalie Marc Tremblay, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Tremblay will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.69.

Belle River was unable to stop the Sharks from sending pucks towards the net, and Wheatley eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Wheatley also got points from Dylan Impens, who also registered one goal and one assist. Wheatley also got a goal from Sebastian Kanally as well. In addition, Wheatley received assists from Zach Wilson, Brett Babkirk, Kyle Quick, Mike Reid, and Brett Bowman, who contributed one a piece.

The Canadiens' offense operated below they season average. Belle River averages 3.6 goals per game.

The Canadiens were led by Mark Manchurek, who scored the team's only goal. Manchurek scored on the power play 2:33 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Wheatley. Belle River had gotten the advantage when the Sharks' Kurtis Ouellette was sent off for tripping. Chris DiNatale picked up the assist.

Wheatley incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Zakk Olvin recorded 27 saves for the Canadiens. Belle River incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
