Brohman's hat trick boosts Essex over Alvinston, 7-2Essex Centre Sports Complex Sun, Dec 30, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Jordan Brohman was the highlight in 73s' 7-2 win against the Alvinston Flyers. Brohman got on the scoresheet 14:15 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:39 into the second and at 16:10 into the third.The Essex 73s forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. Essex surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. The 73s' offense rang up 36 shots on Alvinston's net. Essex was held back by its power play unit, which tallied two goals on nine chances. Essex also had goals scored by Dylan Solecki, who had two and Blaise Baillargeon and Colin Moore, who each put in one. In addition, Essex received assists from Tyler Raymont, who had four, Jordan Ryan, Daniel Slipchuck, Daniel McIntyre, Ryan Muzzin, and Aaron Thibert, who each chipped in one, and Corey Beaulieu and Matthew Hebert, who contributed two a piece. The the Flyers penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. Alvinston had been averaging 15.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Flyers were helped by Dylan Lightfoot, who tallied one goal. Lightfoot scored on the power play 14:00 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Alvinston. Alvinston earned a power play opportunity when McIntyre was put in the box for roughing after whistle. Dan Warner provided the assist. Alvinston also got points from Warner, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Alvinston were Matt Laberge, who had one and Joe Archer, who had two. The 73s' Trevor Wheaton stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. For Essex, Ryan was ejected from the game. Brad Jacklin recorded 29 saves for the Flyers. Alvinston registered two goals on five power play opportunities. The Flyers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and DJ Sapone was ejected from the game.
