The Kingsville Comets had trouble finding ways to stop the Essex 73s, which beat Comets, 5-2. Scott Bromley had two goals to lead Essex to victory. Bromley scored at 14:06 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Essex and again while 17:09 into the third to make the score 5-1 Essex. The 73s' offense rang up 31 shots on Kingsville's net. Essex additionally got points from Jordan Brohman, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Alex Garon, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Essex also got a goal from Matthew Hebert as well. In addition, Essex received assists from Corey Beaulieu, Tyler Raymont, Ryan Muzzin, and Aaron Thibert, who each chipped in one and Colin Moore and Daniel Slipchuck, who contributed two a piece. The Comets managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Kingsville ended up below its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Comets were helped by Justin Parker, who finished with one goal. Parker scored 17:51 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Essex. Devin Shannon picked up the assist. Frank Desjardin also scored for Kingsville. Other players who recorded assists for Kingsville were Tyler Kirby and Adam Minovski, who each chipped in one. Trevor Wheaton made 18 saves for Essex on 20 shots. The 73s incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Marcus Rees rejected 26 shots on goal for Kingsville. The Comets registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
