Wheatley downs Blenheim, 6-3

Even with Zach Mailloux's two points, the Blenheim Blades lost 6-3 to the Wheatley Sharks.

In the losing effort, Blenheim was sparked by Mailloux, who racked up two goals. Mailloux scored the first of his two goals at 6:52 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Wheatley. Ryan Frizzell provided the assist. Mailloux's next tally made the score 5-3 Wheatley with 5:16 left in the third period. Cam Aitken assisted on the tally.

Wheatley excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Sharks kept the Blades' goalie busy throughout the game, and Justin Pratt made 29 saves on 35 shots. Wheatley found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Sharks average 3.4 goals per game.

Wheatley was helped by Brendon Anger, who had one goal. Anger scored 7:15 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Wheatley. Austin Fontaine provided the assist. Wheatley also got a goal from Brian Johnson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wheatley were Dan Matoski, who had one and Zach Wilson and Riley Babkirk, who contributed two a piece.

Jarrod Oliphant also scored for Blenheim. More assists for Blenheim came via Shawn Hope and Kirk McKillop, who each chipped in one.

Nick Keeler rejected 23 shots on goal for the Sharks. Wheatley totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For the Sharks, Mike Reid and Luke Gagnon were ejected from the contest. Blenheim ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. For the Blades, Bowe Shepley was ejected from the game.
