Wheatley rolls over Kingsville, 6-2

The Wheatley Sharks had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Kingsville Comets.

Austin Fontaine was all over the ice for Wheatley, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Fontaine scored the first of his two goals at 15:48 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wheatley. Dylan Impens provided the assist. Fontaine's next tally made the score 6-1 Wheatley with 7:03 left in the third period. Kurtis Ouellette assisted on the tally.

The Sharks avoided man-down situations well, tallying one major for five minutes in penalty time. Wheatley finished below its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Sharks found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Wheatley has scored at the pace of 3.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

Others who scored for Wheatley included Kyle Quick, who had two and Nikko Sablone and Lucas Raffoul, who each put in one. More assists for Wheatley came via Zach Wilson, Craig Adamson, and Sebastian Kanally, who contributed one a piece and Jon Woelk and Riley Babkirk, who each chipped in two.

Kingsville avoided man-down situations well, finishing with one major for five minutes in penalty time. The Comets ended up below its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game.

Nick Keeler made 21 saves for the Sharks on 23 shots. Wheatley registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. For the Sharks, Luke Gagnon was ejected from the game. Marcus Rees recorded 24 saves for Kingsville. The Comets registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. Kingsville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Connor Rennie was ejected from the game.
