Wallaceburg falls to Kingsville after surprising comebackWallaceburg Memorial Arena Wed, Nov 28, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Kingsville Comets battled back to claim a 4-3 victory over the Wallaceburg Lakers. Kingsville never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Comets fell behind 3-1 after a goal by Wallaceburg's Brennan Rainey at 19:02 in the second period. Kingsville tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Zack Brown at 8:03 in the third period. The Comets netted the game winner at 16:42 in the third period on a goal by Brown. Kingsville was paced by Zach Ross, who finished with one goal. The Comets stifled the Lakers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kingsville forced Wallaceburg goalie Joel Sowinski to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Comets got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. Kingsville also got a goal from Kyle Morand as well. In addition, Kingsville received assists from Robert Jardine, who had two and Tyler Kirby, Mark Sobocan, and Peter Ducharme, who contributed one a piece. The Lakers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine Kingsville power plays. Wallaceburg's offense rang up 32 shots on Kingsville's net. The Lakers were helped by Scott Lubbers, who registered one goal and one assist. Lubbers scored 12:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wallaceburg. Rainey picked up the assist. Wallaceburg also got points from Rainey, who also had one goal and one assist. Jeff Morey also scored for Wallaceburg. More assists for Wallaceburg came via Lucais Meyskens, who had two. Marcus Rees made 29 saves for the Comets on 32 shots. Kingsville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Sowinski recorded 28 saves for Wallaceburg. The Lakers incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
