Wheatley downs Mooretown in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Wheatley Sharks pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Mooretown Flags on a clutch goal by Dylan Impens.

Wheatley kept Mooretown's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Johnson made 26 saves on 31 shots.

Wheatley also got points from Brendon Anger, who also had one goal and one assist. Mike Reid also scored for Wheatley. Other players who recorded assists for Wheatley were Kurtis Ouellette, Craig Adamson, Jess Magerison, and Austin Fontaine, who contributed one a piece.

The Flags were led by Mike Burns, who tallied two goals and one assist. Burns scored the first of his two goals at 17:50 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Calab Harse provided the assist. Burns' next tally made the score 4-3 Mooretown with 11:23 left in the third period. A tripping penalty on Impens had put Mooretown on the power play. Jeff Schroeter picked up the assist. Mooretown also got a goal from Alec Rutherford as well. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Riley Roberts and Matt Brandon, who each chipped in one.

Marc Tremblay recorded 20 saves for the Sharks. Wheatley totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. The Sharks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Adamson was ejected from the game. The Flags incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
