Essex rolls over Wheatley, 4-1Essex Centre Sports Complex Tue, Nov 13, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wheatley Sharks had trouble finding ways to stop the Essex 73s, which beat Sharks, 4-1. Wheatley was stymied by Essex netminder Trevor Wheaton, who stopped 31 shots during the victory. Wheaton managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.92 prior to the game. The 73s excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Essex's offense rang up 31 shots on the Sharks' net. The 73s were led by Corey Beaulieu, who finished with two goals and one assist. Beaulieu scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 13:04 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Essex. A cross checking penalty on Craig Adamson had put Essex on the power play. Scott Bromley assisted on the tally. Beaulieu's next tally on the power play made the score 4-1 Essex with 20 seconds left in the third period. Matthew Hebert picked up the assist. Essex additionally got points from Bromley, who also registered one goal and one assist. Essex also got a goal from Marco Canzoneri as well. In addition, Essex received assists from Jordan Brohman and Ryan Muzzin, who contributed one a piece. Wheatley did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Sharks average 3.1 goals per game. Wheatley's offense rang up 32 shots on the 73s' net. The Sharks' penalty kill unit could not stop Essex's power play, which converted on two of three opportunities. Wheatley was led by Austin Fontaine, who scored the team's only goal. Fontaine scored 6:50 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Essex. Corbin Haggerman provided the assist. The 73s incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Marc Tremblay recorded 27 saves for the Sharks. Wheatley incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
