Wheatley blows out Wallaceburg, 5-0

The Wheatley Sharks had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-0 win over the Wallaceburg Lakers.

Dylan Impens was all over the ice for Wheatley, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Impens scored the first of his two goals at 13:06 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wheatley. Jon Woelk assisted on the tally. Impens' next tally made the score 3-0 Wheatley with 17:55 left in the second period.

The Sharks forced Lakers' netminders to work without much rest, getting 38 shots and forcing 33 saves. Devine Cove made 22 stops and Joel Sowinski made 11. Wheatley excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Sharks featured an improved defense during the game. Wheatley averages 2.8 goals allowed per game.

Wheatley also got points from Kyle Quick, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Wheatley also got a goal from Kurtis Ouellette as well. More assists for Wheatley came via Mike Reid, Lucas Raffoul, and Brendon Anger, who contributed one a piece.

Wallaceburg was held below its usual level of production. The Lakers average 3.3 goals per game.

The Sharks' Marc Tremblay stopped 17 shots out of the 17 that he faced. Wheatley incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Wallaceburg incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
