Dresden boosted by Paxton's play in net, beats Alvinston 4-1GLJHL Head Office Sun, Nov 11, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Brent Paxton had a standout game with 39 saves, and the Dresden Kings beat the Alvinston Flyers 4-1. Dresden's penalty kill excelled, as the Kings gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. Dresden was paced by Taylor Sisson, who registered one goal and one assist. Sisson scored short handed 2:46 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Dresden. The Kings were on a disadvantage when Dylan Mertz went off the ice for boarding. Jeremy Griffore assisted on the tally. Dresden stifled Alvinston's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Kings could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 27 minutes in penalties during the game. Dresden also got a goal from Alex Ritchie as well. In addition, Dresden received assists from Derek VanEvery, Jesse Allen, and Macks Holmes, who contributed one a piece. The Flyers stifled Dresden's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Alvinston's offense operated below it season average. The Flyers put an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game. Alvinston forced the Kings goalie Paxton to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. The Flyers were led by Tyler Kettler, who scored the team's only goal. Kettler scored 13:31 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Dresden. Matt Carroll picked up the assist. Dresden registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. Team's Josh Beatty and Wade Esselman were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. James Morreau recorded 21 saves for Alvinston. The Flyers ended with 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors and two majors. For Alvinston, Kyle Cutler and Jake McPhail were ejected from the contest.
