Alvinston beats Blenheim 6-0 as Morreau gains shutout

James Morreau made 31 saves to complete the shutout and led the Alvinston Flyers to a 6-0 win against the Blenheim Blades.

Chad Vaneyk was all over the ice for Alvinston, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Vaneyk scored 14:55 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Alvinston. Dylan Lightfoot picked up the assist.

The Flyers made Blenheim's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 34 shots and forcing 28 saves. Justin Pratt made 10 stops and Dylan Vanderpol made 18. Alvinston excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. The Flyers bested their season scoring average. This season, Alvinston averages 3.8 goals per contest.

Alvinston additionally got points from Lightfoot, who also had one goal and two assists. Alvinston also got a goal from Matt Carroll as well. In addition, Alvinston received assists from Clint Rose and Karsten Berg, who each chipped in one and Tyler Kettler and Connor MacKinnon, who contributed two a piece.

The Blades could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Blenheim averages 2.7 goals per game. The Blades' offense rang up 31 shots on the Flyers' net. Blenheim's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to Alvinston's power play unit.

The Flyers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Blades incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
