Johnson stymies Dresden, Mooretown wins 4-1Mooretown Rink 1 Sat, Nov 03, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Brandon Johnson helped the Mooretown Flags defeat the Dresden Kings, 4-1. Travis Mullen had a great game for Mooretown, netting two goals. Mullen's tallies came on the power play at 19:32 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Mooretown and 17:57 into the second to make the score 4-1 Mooretown. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:21 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Flags' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Dresden power plays. Mooretown's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Mooretown also got points from Dan Lumley, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Mooretown also got a goal from Andrew Sokol as well. In addition, Mooretown received assists from McGregor Haddon, who had two and Jordan Orth and Mike Burns, who each chipped in one. Dresden's offense rang up 34 shots on the Flags' net. The Kings were led by Taylor Sisson, who scored the team's only goal. Sisson scored short handed 4:52 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Dresden found itself down a man on Macks Holmes' goalie interference. Brennan Rainey assisted on the tally. Mooretown's Johnson stopped 33 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Flags totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. For Mooretown, Jeff Sit was ejected from the game. Brent Paxton made 23 saves for the Kings on 27 shots. Dresden ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Kings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mitchell Burton was ejected from the game.
