Wallaceburg's comeback falls short, Kingsville wins 6-5

The Kingsville Comets, who led by four goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Kingsville and clinched a 6-5 victory.

The Comets led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Kingsville's Justin Parker's scored at 19:06 in the first period to put the Comets up 5-1.

Daniel Beaudion had one goal and two assists to lead Kingsville. Beaudion scored short handed 8:31 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Kingsville. A roughing after whistle call on Tyler Morand put the Comets on the penalty kill. Ryan Desjarlais provided the assist.

In a losing effort, the Wallaceburg Lakers were led by Justin Whitson, who finished with two goals. Whitson scored the first of his two goals at 7:37 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Whitson's next tally made the score 5-3 Kingsville with 14:02 left in the second period. Scott Lubbers picked up the assist.

Kingsville was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game the Comets had been spending in the box. Kingsville surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Comets average 3.1 goals per game.

Kingsville also got points from Mark Fratarcangeli, who also had one goal and one assist. Kingsville also got a goal from Devin Shannon as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kingsville were Connor Rennie, Kyle Morand, Steven Spada, Tyler Kirby, and Andy Britton, who contributed one a piece.

Wallaceburg excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Kingsville was unable to stop the Lakers from sending pucks towards the net, and Wallaceburg eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Wallaceburg additionally got points from Jeff Nolfo, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Sam Jasmin also scored for Wallaceburg. More assists for Wallaceburg came via Jake Carter, who had three and Lucais Meyskens and Jeff Morey, who each chipped in one.

Teo Mastronardi made 27 saves for the Comets on 32 shots. For Kingsville, Tyler Cheney was ejected from the game. Devine Cove rejected 24 shots on goal for the Lakers. Wallaceburg incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
