Wheatley rolls over Blenheim, 6-2Blenheim Memorial Arena Sun, Oct 28, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Blenheim Blades had trouble finding ways to stop the Wheatley Sharks, which beat Blades, 6-2. Wheatley was sparked by Craig Adamson, who had one goal and one assist. Adamson scored short handed 18:32 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Wheatley. The Sharks were on a disadvantage when Dylan Impens went off the ice for head contact. Wheatley made Blenheim's goaltenders to work without much rest, ripping 38 shots and forcing 32 saves. Justin Pratt made eight stops and Dylan Vanderpol made 24. The Sharks outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Wheatley averages 3.1 goals per contest. Wheatley also got points from Brett Bowman, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Dan Matoski, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Jon Woelk, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Wheatley also got a goal from Brendon Anger as well. More assists for Wheatley came via Kyle Quick and Brian Johnson, who contributed one a piece. The the Blades penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 28.0 minutes per game Blenheim had been spending in the box. The Blades were helped by Aaron Pastorius, who finished with one goal. Pastorius scored 8:57 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Wheatley. Trevor Sparks assisted on the tally. Taylor Phillips also scored for Blenheim. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Bowe Shepley, Owen Bateman, and Tyler Clarke, who each chipped in one. The Sharks' Marc Tremblay stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Wheatley totaled 55 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Sharks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Anger was ejected from the game. Blenheim registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For the Blades, Kurt Beecroft was ejected from the game.
