Whitely lifts Alvinston over Kingsville, 8-2Kingsville Arena Sat, Oct 27, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Behind a great game by Troy Whitely, who had two goals, the Alvinston Flyers defeated the Kingsville Comets, 8-2. Whitely's tallies came at 11:07 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Alvinston and 18:46 into the third to make the score 8-2 Alvinston.Alvinston pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes. The Flyers forced Comets' goaltenders to work all game long, totaling 32 shots and forcing 24 saves. Nathan Crankshaw made 15 stops and Kyle Andrian made nine. Alvinston's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Kingsville power plays. The Flyers' goal total was higher than their season average. Alvinston has scored at the pace of 4.0 goals per game during the current campaign. Alvinston additionally got points from Kyle Cutler, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Chad Vaneyk, who also registered one goal and one assist. Alvinston also had goals scored by Joe Archer, who had two and Tyler Kettler and Josh Moore, who scored one goal each. More assists for Alvinston came via Dylan Lightfoot, who had two and Matt Carroll, Cody Perriam, and Ryan Fraser, who each chipped in one. Kingsville forced the Flyers goalie James Morreau to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The Comets were helped by Daniel Beaudion, who racked up one goal. Beaudion scored 17:44 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Andy Britton picked up the assist. Kingsville also got a goal from Peter Ducharme as well. In addition, Kingsville received assists from Devin Shannon, who had one. Alvinston's Morreau stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Flyers registered three goals on six power play opportunities. Alvinston ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt Laberge was ejected from the game. Kingsville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Team's Ryan Jones and Beaudion were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
