Essex outlasts Kingsville, 7-5Essex Centre Sports Complex Tue, Oct 23, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Essex 73s and the Kingsville Comets was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Essex emerged with a 7-5 win. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Jordan Brohman's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Corey Beaulieu was all over the ice for the 73s, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Beaulieu scored the first of his two goals at 2:18 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Alex Garon provided the assist. Beaulieu's next tally made the score 7-5 Essex with 8:48 left in the third period. Marco Canzoneri assisted on the tally. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:57 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. Kingsville was unable to stop Essex from sending pucks towards the net, and the 73s eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Essex bested its season scoring average. This season, the 73s average 4.9 goals per contest. Essex additionally got points from Canzoneri, who also registered two goals and one assist, Brohman, who also had one goal and one assist, and Garon, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Essex also got a goal from Colin Moore as well. In addition, Essex received assists from Curtis Prymack, who had two and Kevin Boggs, Adam Dunmore, and Colin DeLaet, who contributed one a piece. The Comets stifled Essex's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kingsville's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. The Comets were helped by Ryan Desjarlais, who racked up one goal. Desjarlais scored on the power play 9:51 into the second period to make the score 5-4 Essex. Kingsville earned a power play opportunity when Garon was put in the box for fighting (instigator). Mark Sobocan provided the assist. Connor Rennie also scored for Kingsville. More assists for Kingsville came via Ryan Jones and Daniel Beaudion, who each chipped in one. The 73s took out Arren Romeril after he had made four saves and installed Trevor Wheaton in goal, where he finished with 17 saves and the win. Essex totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. The 73s ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Garon was ejected from the game. Nathan Crankshaw rejected 27 shots on goal for the Comets. Kingsville totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 3-for-7 on the power play. For the Comets, Adam Minovski and Brett Beattie were ejected from the contest.
