The Wallaceburg Lakers' Justin Whitson scored 4:38 into overtime to beat the Mooretown Flags, 6-5 (OT).

Wallaceburg nearly gave up a two-score lead. The Lakers made it 5-3 on a goal by Bobby Domin at 16:03 in the third period. Mooretown pulled to within 5-4 on a goal by Andrew Sokol at 17:04 in the third period.

In a losing effort, the Flags were sparked by Sokol, who had two goals. Sokol scored the first of his two goals at 14:21 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Wallaceburg. Jeff Schroeter assisted on the tally. Sokol's next tally made the score Wallaceburg with 2:56 left in the third period. Jeff Sit provided the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:32 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Wallaceburg penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and two majors for 48 minutes in penalty time. The Lakers had been averaging 25.0 minutes in penalties per game. Wallaceburg's offense rang up 34 shots on Mooretown's net. The Lakers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Wallaceburg averages 3.8 goals per game.

Wallaceburg additionally got points from Lucais Meyskens, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Domin, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Jeff Nolfo, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Scott Lubbers also scored for Wallaceburg. In addition, Wallaceburg received assists from Barry Braun, who had two and Sam Jasmin and Trevor Williams, who contributed one a piece.

The Lakers were unable to stop the Flags from sending pucks towards the net, and Mooretown eventually piled up 50 shots on goal. Devine Cove made 45 saves for Wallaceburg on 50 shots. The Lakers registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Team's Cameron Fraser and Robert Towsley were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Brandon Johnson rejected 28 shots on goal for Mooretown. The Flags ended with 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and two majors. For Mooretown, Riley Roberts and Frankie White were ejected from the contest.
