Behind a great game by Taylor Sisson, who had two goals, the Dresden Kings defeated the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs, 4-1. Sisson's tallies came at 29 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Dresden and on the power play 13:52 into the second to make the score 2-0 Dresden.Dresden's Brent Paxton was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 27 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Paxton will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.05. The Kings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Mt. Brydges was unable to stop Dresden from sending pucks towards the net, and the Kings eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Dresden also got points from Brennan Rainey, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Dresden received assists from Macks Holmes, who had two and Jeff Vanrabaeys, Cody McPhail, and Wade Esselman, who contributed one a piece. The Bulldogs struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 34 penalty minutes for five opposing power plays. Mt. Brydges was led by Jeremy Denomme, who scored the team's only goal. Denomme scored short handed 2:36 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Dresden. The Bulldogs found themselves down a man on Mike Frizzell's checking from behind. Robert McTaggart picked up the assist. Dresden incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Eric Steinman recorded 42 saves for Mt. Brydges. The Bulldogs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Frizzell was ejected from the game.
