Belle River's Gaul deadly on offense in 5-1 win against Wheatley

Weston Gaul had two goals to lead the Belle River Canadiens to a 5-1 victory over the Wheatley Sharks.

Gaul's tallies came on the power play at 10:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Belle River and 19:22 into the first to make the score 2-0 Belle River.

Belle River pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 21 penalty minutes.

The defensemen of the Canadiens were also effective in Wheatley's zone, and came away with three goals.

Belle River additionally got points from Jordan Luciw, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Belle River also got a goal from Derek Haskell as well. In addition, Belle River received assists from James Shelton, Chris DiNatale, and Josh Synnott, who contributed two a piece.

The Sharks were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 30 penalty minutes.

Wheatley was led by Dylan Impens, who scored the team's only goal. Impens scored on the power play 10:54 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Belle River. A checking from behind penalty on Branden Larocque had put the Sharks on the power play. Kurtis Ouellette assisted on the tally.

Zakk Olvin recorded 21 saves for Belle River. The Canadiens registered three goals on 11 power play opportunities. For Belle River, Billy Eansor, Larocque, DiNatale, and Mark Manchurek were ejected from the contest. Wheatley's Marc Tremblay stopped 16 shots out of the 21 that he faced. The Sharks registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Team's Ouellette and Kyle Quick were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
