Nolfo's big game bests Wheatley in 6-4 Wallaceburg win

Behind a great game by Jeff Nolfo, who had two goals and two assists, the Wallaceburg Lakers defeated the Wheatley Sharks, 6-4.

Nolfo's tallies came at 6:34 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 16:08 into the third to make the score 5-4 Wallaceburg.

Wallaceburg's offense rang up 44 shots on Wheatley's net. The Lakers bested their season scoring average. Wallaceburg has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

Wallaceburg additionally got points from Bobby Domin, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Justin Whitson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Wallaceburg also got a goal from Lucais Meyskens as well. In addition, Wallaceburg received assists from Scott Lubbers and Joe Allison, who contributed one a piece.

The Sharks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Wheatley's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

The Sharks were helped by Eric Rivard, who racked up two goals. Rivard scored the first of his two goals at 7:01 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Wallaceburg. Jon Woelk picked up the assist. Rivard's next tally made the score 4-4 with 4:29 left in the third period. Woelk provided the assist. Mike Reid also scored for Wheatley. More assists for Wheatley came via Corbin Haggerman, Brett Bowman, Luke Gagnon, Brendon Anger, and Colin Hamilton, who each chipped in one.

The Lakers' Devine Cove stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Wallaceburg incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Marc Tremblay rejected 38 shots on goal for Wheatley. The Sharks incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
