Essex downs Mooretown in overtime, 4-3 (OT)Mooretown Rink 1 Sat, Sep 22, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Essex 73s pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Mooretown Flags on a clutch goal by Aaron Thibert. Essex was led by Thibert, who had one goal. Thibert scored 2:04 into overtime to make the score 4-3 Essex. Tyler Raymont picked up the assist. The 73s kept Mooretown's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Johnson made 38 saves on 42 shots. Essex additionally got points from Jordan Ryan, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Essex also got a goal from Matthew Hebert as well. More assists for Essex came via Blaise Baillargeon, Kevin Boggs, Adam Dunmore, and Zack Miletic, who each chipped in one. The Flags stifled Essex's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Mooretown was helped by Andrew Sokol, who registered one goal. Sokol scored on the power play 3:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mooretown. The Flags had gotten the advantage when the 73s' Scott Bromley was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Adam Hayes assisted on the tally. Jordan Orth also scored for Mooretown. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Jordan McBeath, Riley Roberts, Mike Burns, and Dan Lumley, who contributed one a piece. Trevor Wheaton rejected 19 shots on goal for Essex. The 73s incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Mooretown incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Team's McBeath and Sokol were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
