Alvinston falls apart in second, loses to Belle River, 7-1Belle River Lakeshore Arena Fri, Sep 14, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Alvinston Flyers was within striking distance after one period, but the Belle River Canadiens put the pedal down in the second en route to a 7-1 victory. Branden Larocque was all over the ice for Belle River, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Derek Haskell also scored for Belle River. In addition, Belle River received assists from Tyler Turner and James Shelton, who contributed one a piece and Chris DiNatale and Richard Dunning, who each chipped in two. The Flyers' power play unit failed to produce, and was held to zero goals on nine chances. Alvinston was led by Tyler Kettler, who scored the team's only goal. Kettler scored 9:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Alvinston. Jake McPhail picked up the assist. Belle River's Brandon Cowell stopped 18 shots out of the 19 that he faced. The Canadiens registered one goal on four power play opportunities. The Flyers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
