Dresden erases deficit to stun Wheatley, 4-3

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Dresden Kings battled back to claim a 4-3 victory over the Wheatley Sharks.

Dresden never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Kings was down 3-1 after a goal by Wheatley's Brendon Anger at 12:09 in the second period. Dresden knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Macks Holmes at 7:19 in the third period. The Kings scored the game winner on the power play at 12:07 in the third period on a goal by Holmes.

Holmes was all over the ice for Dresden, as he racked up two goals in the win.

The Kings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Dresden kept the Sharks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Marc Tremblay made 28 saves on 32 shots.

Dresden also got a goal from Dylan Mertz as well. In addition, Dresden received assists from Brennan Rainey, who had two and Josh Beatty, Cam Ross, Alex Kirschner, Jesse Allen, and Derek Daly, who contributed one a piece.

Wheatley was helped by Jon Woelk, who registered one goal. Woelk scored 4:44 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Wheatley. Eric Rivard assisted on the tally. Wheatley additionally got points from Brett Bowman, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Wheatley were Zach Wilson and Kevin Sawatzky, who each chipped in one.

The Kings' Brent Paxton stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Dresden incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Sharks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
