Space Coast Hurricanes uses shootout to best Florida Eels, 5-4 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Space Coast Hurricanes defeated Florida Eels in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.

Space Coast Hurricanes saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Space Coast Hurricanes made the score 4-2 on a goal by Jack Musil at 9:34 in the third period. Florida Eels evened things up at 4-4 on a goal by Steven Prince at 19:09 in the third period.

Andrew Bathgate had a great game for Space Coast Hurricanes, netting two goals. Bathgate scored on the power play at 8:39 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Space Coast Hurricanes and again while 12:59 into the second to make the score 3-1 Space Coast Hurricanes.

Space Coast Hurricanes forced Florida Eels' goalies to work between the pipes, ripping 32 shots and forcing 27 saves. Hunter Fernandez made 16 stops and Christopher James made 11.

Space Coast Hurricanes additionally got points from Musil, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Space Coast Hurricanes also got a goal from Clay Plyler as well. Other players who recorded assists for Space Coast Hurricanes were Scotty Tam and Griffin Rogers, who contributed one a piece and Jamie Chilcott and Crissostomos Villarreal, who each chipped in two.

Florida Eels forced Space Coast Hurricanes goalie Parker Bonis to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Florida Eels was helped by Alexander Sanchez, who finished with one goal and one assist. Sanchez scored on the power play 7:07 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Space Coast Hurricanes. Florida Eels had gained a power play chance when Musil was whistled for hooking. Brien Thompson provided the assist. Florida Eels also got points from Tom Doverhjelm, who also registered one goal and one assist. Fredrik Wink also scored for Florida Eels. In addition, Florida Eels received assists from Arnaldo Osuna, who had one and Zachery Mudge, who had two.

Parker Bonis made 28 saves for Space Coast Hurricanes on 32 shots. Space Coast Hurricanes incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Florida Eels incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
