Lakefield falls to Clarington in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Clarington Eagles' Cody Kean scored 42 seconds into overtime to beat the Lakefield Chiefs, 3-2 (OT).

Clarington was led by Kean, who had one goal.

The Eagles forced Lakefield goalie Zach Wainman to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Brock Ackerman also scored for Clarington. More assists for Clarington came via Anthony DUrso, who had two and Thomas Garrity and Brett Brown, who contributed one a piece.

The Chiefs could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Lakefield averages 4.6 goals per game.

The Chiefs were helped by Nathan Larson, who registered one goal. Larson scored on the power play 6:27 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Lakefield. A hooking penalty on Dylan Howorko had put Lakefield on the power play. Gregory Jesse picked up the assist. Lakefield also got a goal from Jordan Walsh as well. In addition, Lakefield received assists from Curtis Bolton and Derek Manley, who each chipped in one.

Clarington's DUrso stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Eagles incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Clarington ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Howorko was ejected from the game. Wainman rejected 28 shots on goal for the Chiefs. Lakefield incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
