Little Britain rides Haden to victory over Lakefield, 2-1Fenelon Falls Rec Center Sun, Dec 02, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Garrett Haden had a standout game with 39 saves, and the Little Britain Merchants beat the Lakefield Chiefs 2-1. Little Britain's penalty kill excelled, as the Merchants gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. Little Britain was led by Nate Huhges, who grabbed one goal. Huhges scored 15:00 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Little Britain. Greg ONeil picked up the assist. The Merchants were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 30 penalty minutes. Little Britain also got a goal from Cam Palmer as well. In addition, Little Britain received assists from Paul Hennessey, T.J. Doran, and Mitch Thurston, who each chipped in one. Lakefield did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Chiefs average 4.5 goals per game. Lakefield's offense rang up 40 shots on Little Britain's net. The Chiefs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Lakefield was led by Jordan Walsh, who scored the team's only goal. Walsh scored on the power play 35 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Lakefield. Derek Manley provided the assist. The Merchants registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Zach Wainman rejected 17 shots on goal for the Chiefs. Lakefield ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Anderson was ejected from the game. |
