Brent Hambly gave the Clarington Eagles the lead in the first period, and the Little Britain Merchants was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 3-1. Clarington took over the lead for good with a goal by Hambly at 17:19 in the first period. Craig Crowther picked up the assist.Hambly had two goals to lead the Eagles to victory. Little Britain's power play was ineffective against Clarington's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Eagles racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Clarington surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. The Eagles forced the Merchants' goalies to work without much rest, racking up 31 shots and forcing 28 saves. Garrett Haden made 28 stops and Neil Pittock made zero. Clarington additionally got points from Courtland Black-Araujo, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Clarington received assists from Brock Ackerman, Brad Down, and Brandon Hesson, who each chipped in one. Little Britain stifled Clarington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Merchants could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. Little Britain was led by Kurtis Moore, who scored the team's only goal. Moore scored on the power play 16:29 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Clarington. The Merchants earned a power play opportunity when Ackerman was put in the box for head contact. Cam Palmer assisted on the tally. The Eagles' Anthony DUrso stopped 24 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Clarington registered zero goals on seven power play opportunities. For the Eagles, Jake Choiniere was ejected from the game. Little Britain ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Greg ONeil was ejected from the game.
