The Clarington Eagles could not stop the Lakefield Chiefs' Travis Brault, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-2 win. Brault's first goal came 19:53 into the second period. He then added goals at 9:35 into the third and at 18:58 into the third.Lakefield's penalty kill excelled, as the Chiefs gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:28 into the third period. Eight fighting penalties were dished out along with six game misconducts. Lakefield forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and two majors for 38 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game the Chiefs had been spending in the box. Lakefield's offense rang up 41 shots on Clarington's net. The Chiefs were held back by their power play unit, which tallied two goals on nine chances. Lakefield also got a goal from Nathan Larson as well. In addition, Lakefield received assists from Eric Oosting, who had three and Ryan Anderson and Jordan Walsh, who each chipped in one. The the Eagles penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 14 minors and two majors for 48 minutes in penalty time. Clarington surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. The Eagles were helped by Courtland Black-Araujo, who registered one goal. Black-Araujo scored 17:01 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Clarington. Dylan Howorko also scored for Clarington. More assists for Clarington came via Blane Gaudon and Craig Crowther, who contributed one a piece. Dustin Cook rejected 27 shots on goal for Lakefield. Team's Riley Campbell and Gregory Jesse were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Brandon Green recorded 36 saves for Clarington. For the Eagles, Mitchell Marchbank and Brett Brown were ejected from the contest.
