Georgina survives Little Britain comeback, wins 6-5Georgina Ice Palace Fri, Jan 04, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Little Britain Merchants tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Georgina Ice would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 6-5. A goal by Scott Sandercock put Georgina up 6-4 in the third period, but Little Britain pulled to within one on Curtis Lee's tally 12:59 into the third period. The Ice got the win thanks to a great game by Sandercock, who had two goals and three assists. Sandercock scored the first of his two goals at 19:59 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Georgina. Dylan Kovacs provided the assist. Sandercock's next tally made the score Georgina with 12:18 left in the third period. Georgina had gained a power play chance when Brock Beers APM was whistled for delay of game. Jesse Johnston assisted on the tally. The Ice outdid their season average for goals scored. Georgina averages 3.1 goals per game. Georgina additionally got points from Kovacs, who also grabbed two goals and three assists and Jason Bianie, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Georgina also got a goal from Luke Vanderkooy as well. Other players who recorded assists for Georgina were Brandon Basler, who had one. The Merchants surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Little Britain has scored at the pace of 2.8 goals per game during the current campaign. The Merchants were led by T.J. Doran, who tallied two goals and one assist. Doran scored the first of his two goals at 26 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-2 Georgina. Chad Lindsay provided the assist. Doran's next tally made the score 3-3 with 11:50 left in the second period. Little Britain earned a power play opportunity when Kovacs was put in the box for hooking. Paul Hennessey assisted on the tally. Little Britain also got points from Cam Palmer, who also registered one goal and one assist. Ryan Moser also scored for Little Britain. In addition, Little Britain received assists from Mark Vasey, Mitch Phinney, and Quincy McIvor, who each chipped in one. The Ice incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Merchants incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
