The Clarington Eagles survived a determined comeback attempt by the Georgina Ice on the way to a 2-1 win. A goal by Craig Crowther put Clarington up 2-0 in the second period, but Georgina pulled to within one on Jason Bianie's tally 7:56 into the third period. The Eagles were paced by Crowther, who registered one goal. Crowther scored 13:18 into the second period to make the score Clarington. Brock Ackerman assisted on the tally. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:25 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Clarington's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Georgina power plays. The Ice were unable to stop the Eagles from sending pucks towards the net, and Clarington eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Clarington also got a goal from Rory Craddock as well. In addition, Clarington received assists from Mitchell Marchbank, Brett Brown, and Brad Down, who contributed one a piece. The Georgina penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 12 minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. The Ice surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game. Georgina managed to hold the Eagles' power play largely in check, allowing only one goal while on the disadvantage. Other players who recorded assists for Georgina were Mitch McLaughlin and Scott Sandercock, who each chipped in one. Clarington's Nick Keleher stopped 14 shots out of the 15 that he faced. The Eagles ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. For Clarington, Brandon Hesson was ejected from the game. Jake Francis rejected 44 shots on goal for the Ice. Georgina ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Luke Vanderkooy was ejected from the game.
