Lakefield blows out Little Britain, 5-0

The Lakefield Chiefs were firing on all cylinders against the Little Britain Merchants, and when the final buzzer sounded Chiefs emerged with a 5-0 win.

Lakefield was paced by Travis Brault, who tallied one goal and one assist. Brault scored 18:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakefield. Eric Oosting picked up the assist.

The Chiefs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Little Britain power plays. Lakefield featured an improved defense during the game. The Chiefs allow 2.4 goals per game. Lakefield's offense rang up 32 shots on Little Britain's net.

Lakefield additionally got points from Riley Campbell, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Oosting, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Nathan Larson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Lakefield also got a goal from Matt Perras as well. In addition, Lakefield received assists from Hayden Lambe, who had one and Jordan Walsh and Derek Manley, who each chipped in two.

The Merchants' offense operated below they season average. Little Britain puts an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game. The Merchants' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Little Britain finished with 30 penalty minutes.

Dustin Cook recorded 20 saves for the Chiefs. Lakefield incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Merchants' Garrett Haden stopped 27 shots out of the 32 that he faced.
