Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Lakefield Chiefs defeated the Port Perry Mojacks in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO). The shootout featured 14 attempts between both teams. Port Perry's shootout goal was scored by Joe Lamanna. Lakefield's other shootout goal was scored by Derek Manley.The Chiefs overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Lakefield trailed 1-0 after a goal by the Mojacks' Nick Loyst at 29 seconds in the first period. The Chiefs tied things up at 1-1 on a goal by Matt Perras at 10:01 in the third period. Lakefield excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Chiefs did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Lakefield puts an average of 4.6 pucks into the net per game. Port Perry was unable to stop the Chiefs from sending pucks towards the net, and Lakefield eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Manley, who had one. The Mojacks stifled the Chiefs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Port Perry was held below its usual level of production. The Mojacks average 3.8 goals per game. In addition, Port Perry received assists from Brodie Meyers, who had one. Zach Wainman rejected 24 shots on goal for Lakefield. The Chiefs incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Port Perry's Drew Siydock stopped 34 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Mojacks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
