Georgina's Allen deadly on offense in 5-2 win against Clarington

The Georgina Ice relied on the scoring touch of Tanner Allen, who netted two goals, to beat the Clarington Eagles, 5-2.

Allen found the back of the net 13:52 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Georgina and again while on the power play 12:12 into the third to make the score 4-2 Georgina.

Georgina's goal total was higher than its season average. The Ice have scored at the pace of 2.7 goals per game during the current campaign. Georgina was held back by its power play unit, which tallied one goal on nine chances.

Georgina additionally got points from Vito Jessop, who also racked up one goal and three assists and Scott Sandercock, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Brendan Anderson also scored for Georgina. In addition, Georgina received assists from Brandon Basler, who had one.

Clarington forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game the Eagles had been spending in the box.

Clarington was helped by Brent Hambly, who racked up one goal. Hambly scored on the power play 7:31 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Georgina. The Eagles earned a power play opportunity when Jessop was put in the box for hooking. Greg St. James provided the assist. Clarington also got a goal from Josh Lucas APM as well. More assists for Clarington came via Brad Down, who had one.

The Ice ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. Team's AJ Killens and JD Leblond were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Clarington registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
