Murray nets hat trick, leads Port Perry to 5-3 win over Uxbridge

Matt Murray netted a hat trick to lead the Port Perry Mojacks over the Uxbridge Bruins, 5-3.

Murray got on the scoresheet 19:47 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:30 into the second and at 6:45 into the third.

Port Perry additionally got points from Brodie Meyers, who also had one goal and one assist. Matt Paul also scored for Port Perry. Other players who recorded assists for Port Perry were Joe Lamanna and Kyler Challis, who each chipped in one and Lucas Berkers and Anders Neilsen, who contributed two a piece.

Uxbridge's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Bruins average 2.0 goals allowed per game.

Uxbridge was led by Patrick Morgan, who registered two goals. Morgan scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Perry. The Bruins earned a power play opportunity when Brody Anderson was put in the box for roughing after whistle. Michael Spataro provided the assist. Morgan's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Port Perry with 2:22 left in the second period. Uxbridge had taken the advantage when Port Perry's Logan Evans got sent off for slashing. Justin Bean assisted on the tally. Uxbridge also got a goal from Keegan Cairns as well. More assists for Uxbridge came via Dylan Locke and Matthew Allen, who each chipped in one.

The Mojacks incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. The Bruins incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
