Uxbridge squeaks by Little Britain, 4-2Uxbridge Arena Fri, Oct 26, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Uxbridge Bruins escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Little Britain Merchants. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Tim Bierema at 7:19 of the second period. Uxbridge was efficient when it shot the puck, scoring its goals on only four shots. In the losing effort, Little Britain was sparked by T.J. Doran, who had two goals. Doran scored the first of his two goals at 19:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Little Britain. Mitch Berzins assisted on the tally. Doran's next tally made the score 3-2 Uxbridge with 12:48 left in the third period. Berzins provided the assist. The Bruins put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Merchants to score on any of their five power plays. Uxbridge was led by Shane Smith, who registered one goal and one assist. Smith scored 18:13 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Uxbridge. Korey Brand picked up the assist. Uxbridge also got a goal from Dylan Locke as well. More assists for Uxbridge came via Callum Lynch and Justin Bean, who contributed one a piece. Little Britain stifled the Bruins' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Merchants' offense were handcuffed by Uxbridge's defensive play, and Little Britain managed only three shots on goal during the game. In addition, Little Britain received assists from Mitch Phinney, who had two. The Bruins totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. Uxbridge ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Steve Doutsis was ejected from the game. The Merchants ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Little Britain, Greg ONeil was ejected from the game.
