Uxbridge's Ramsey deadly on offense in 3-1 win against Lakefield

Uxbridge Arena    Fri, Sep 21, 2012

Mike Ramsey had two goals to lead the Uxbridge Bruins to a 3-1 victory over the Lakefield Chiefs.

Ramsey scored at 15:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Uxbridge and again while 7:51 into the third to make the score 3-1 Uxbridge.

Uxbridge put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Lakefield to score on any of its five power plays. The Bruins found themselves stymied offensively, and got off a mere nine shots against the Chiefs' defense.

Uxbridge also got points from Patrick Morgan, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Uxbridge were Callum Lynch, who had one and Shane Smith, who had three.

Lakefield excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. The Chiefs' offense were handcuffed by Uxbridge's defensive play, and Lakefield managed only one shot on goal during the game. The Chiefs were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 34 penalty minutes.

Lakefield was led by Matt Perras, who scored the team's only goal. Perras scored 14:56 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Connor Blair picked up the assist.

The Bruins incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
