Chatham beats LaSalle 6-4 after comeback scareChatham Memorial Arena Sun, Feb 24, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The LaSalle Vipers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Chatham Maroons held on for a 6-4 victory. Chatham made the score 6-3 on a goal by Eric Palazzolo at 11:10 in the third period, and LaSalle got as close as 6-4 when Korey Morgan scored 18:29 into the third period. Brennan Feasey had one goal and three assists to lead the Maroons. Feasey scored 6:52 into the first period to make the score 3-1 LaSalle. Jake Flegel picked up the assist. Chatham's offense rang up 35 shots on the Vipers' net. Chatham additionally got points from Trevor Richardson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Michael Verboom, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Ian Faubert, who also registered one goal and one assist. Chatham also got a goal from Connor Doran as well. Other players who recorded assists for Chatham were Ben Pataki, Brayden Hopkins, and Blake Blondeel, who contributed one a piece. LaSalle made the Maroons' goalies to work without much rest, launching 36 shots and forcing 32 saves. Scott Tricker made 13 stops and Darien Ekblad made 19. The Vipers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. LaSalle ended up below its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. The Vipers were helped by Brendan McCann, who tallied one goal. McCann scored 5:48 into the first period to make the score 2-0 LaSalle. Blake Jones provided the assist. Weston Gaul also scored for LaSalle. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Ben Hanus, Spencer VanBuskirk, Eric Noel, and Patrick Murphy, who each chipped in one. Chatham incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Taylor Speed rejected 29 shots on goal for LaSalle. The Vipers registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
