Niagara Falls downs Fort Erie in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Gale Centre Fri, Feb 22, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Niagara Falls Canucks' Cam Stewart scored 4:26 into overtime to beat the Fort Erie Meteors, 5-4 (OT). Stewart had two goals to lead Niagara Falls to victory. The Canucks forced Fort Erie goalie Wyatt Pickrell to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Others who scored for Niagara Falls included Billy Saxton, who had one and Drew Berkel, who had two. In addition, Niagara Falls received assists from Mitch McIntosh, who had two and Michael Christou, Marcus Michalski, Marc Rowe, Vittorio Giannico, and Vito Scaringi, who each chipped in one. The Meteors excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Fort Erie was helped by Nik Passero, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Passero scored the first of his two goals at 16:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fort Erie. Jesse Pereira assisted on the tally. Passero's next tally made the score 3-2 Fort Erie with 18:46 left in the third period. A delay of game penalty on Giannico had put the Meteors on the power play. Andy Sturtz provided the assist. Fort Erie additionally got points from Braden Kavaravtzis, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Sturtz, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Jonathan England and Richard DeMarco, who contributed one a piece. Scott Horne recorded 26 saves for Niagara Falls. The Canucks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Fort Erie's Pickrell stopped 33 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Meteors incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
