Arseneault's big game bests St. Marys in 5-2 Lambton Shores win

The Lambton Shores Predators' Adam Arseneault had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over the St. Marys Lincolns.

Arseneault found the back of the net 49 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lambton Shores and again while short handed 6:01 into the second to make the score 4-1 Lambton Shores.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:06 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts.

Both goalies were tossed from the game during the major incident in the third period.

The Lambton Shores penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and two majors for 66 minutes in penalty time. The Predators surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. Lambton Shores made St. Marys' goaltenders to work in net, ripping 34 shots and forcing 29 saves. Craig Wood made 26 stops and Jacob Theut made three. The Predators stifled the Lincolns' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Austin Fetterly also scored for Lambton Shores. In addition, Lambton Shores received assists from Bryan Boersma, Brett Thompson, Tanner Ferguson, and Connor Annett, who each chipped in one and Ryan Rontondi and Kyle Brothers, who contributed two a piece.

St. Marys forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 12 minors and two majors for 64 minutes in penalty time. The Lincolns had been averaging 25.0 minutes in penalties per game. St. Marys forced Predators' netminders to work without much rest, finishing with 33 shots and forcing 31 saves. Brandon Campbell made 27 stops and Justin Tugwell made four. The Lincolns' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Lambton Shores power plays.

St. Marys was led by Calvin Penney, who finished with two goals. Penney scored the first of his two goals at 2:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Marys. Mitch Smith picked up the assist. Penney's next tally made the score 5-2 Lambton Shores with 13:57 left in the third period. David Sproat provided the assist. More assists for St. Marys came via Mitch Read and Kurtis Lavis, who each chipped in one.

For Lambton Shores, Campbell and Boersma were ejected from the contest. The Lincolns registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. Team's Danny Bryan and Wood were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
