Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Welland Jr. Canadians defeated the Fort Erie Meteors in a shootout 2-1 (1-0 SO).

Welland was led by goalie Chris McDougall, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. McDougall managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.36 prior to the game.

The Jr. Canadians forced Fort Erie goalie Connor Visca to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Welland was helped by Matt Gillard, who registered one goal. Gillard scored 18:23 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Welland. Braden Curry provided the assist. In addition, Welland received assists from Brooker Muir, who had one.

The Meteors were led by Nik Passero, who scored the team's only goal. Passero scored 19:37 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Mike Boles assisted on the tally.

The Jr. Canadians incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Connor Visca made 35 saves for Fort Erie on 36 shots. The Meteors incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
