Langdon lifts Welland over Fort Erie, 6-2

The Welland Jr. Canadians relied on the scoring touch of Chris Langdon, who netted two goals, to beat the Fort Erie Meteors, 6-2.

Langdon's tallies came on the power play at 18:34 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Welland and on the power play 9:32 into the third to make the score 6-2 Welland.

Fort Erie was unable to stop Welland from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Canadians eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Welland got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Welland additionally got points from Chris Brown, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Welland also had goals scored by Adam Mataya, who had one and Braden Curry, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Welland were Brooker Muir, who had three, CJ Stellato, Derrik Vannas, Gabe Ruggi, and Matthew Mateljan, who each chipped in one, and Matt Gillard and Drake Lynds, who contributed two a piece.

The Meteors forced the Jr. Canadians goalie Matt Coulombe to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. Fort Erie struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 34 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

The Meteors were helped by Andy Sturtz, who registered one goal. Sturtz scored on the power play 18:15 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Fort Erie had gained a power play chance when Mateljan was whistled for interference. Nik Passero provided the assist. Fort Erie also got a goal from Jesse Pereira as well. In addition, Fort Erie received assists from Braeden Kavaravtzis, who had one.

Coulombe rejected 39 shots on goal for Welland. The Jr. Canadians incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Meteors' Wyatt Pickrell stopped 36 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Fort Erie registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
