Strathroy falls to LaSalle in overtime, 2-1 (OT)West Middlesex Arena Sat, Feb 16, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Korey Morgan gave the LaSalle Vipers a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Strathroy Rockets when he scored 4:05 into the extra period. LaSalle's Taylor Speed was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 30 saves and let only one puck past him. Speed managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.23 prior to the game. The Vipers were sparked by Morgan, who registered one goal and one assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:20 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. LaSalle put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Strathroy to score on any of its five power plays. The Vipers kept the Rockets' goalie busy throughout the game, and Dalen Kuchmey made 43 saves on 45 shots. Eric Noel also scored for LaSalle. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Chris Pignanelli, Dylan Denomme, and Scott Prier, who contributed one a piece. Strathroy's offense operated below it season average. The Rockets average 3.2 goals per game. Strathroy's offense rang up 31 shots on LaSalle's net. The Rockets were led by Jordan DaSilva, who scored the team's only goal. DaSilva scored 13:10 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Trevor Dulong assisted on the tally. The Vipers totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For LaSalle, Patrick Murphy was ejected from the game. Strathroy ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Rockets ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Luke Jackson was ejected from the game.
