St. Marys wins seesaw game versus Sarnia, 5-4

The St. Marys Lincolns beat the Sarnia Legionnaires 5-4 in a hard-fought contest that saw the lead change hands four times.

Calvin Penney was all over the ice for St. Marys, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Penney scored the first of his two goals at 13:07 into the second period to make the score 3-2 St. Marys. David Sproat assisted on the tally. Penney's next tally made the score 5-4 St. Marys with 47 seconds left in the third period. Cody Filson picked up the assist.

The defensemen of the Lincolns were also effective in Sarnia's zone, and came away with two goals.

St. Marys additionally got points from Sproat, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Kurtis Lavis also scored for St. Marys. In addition, St. Marys received assists from Owen MacDonald, who had two and Tyson Baker, Mitch Smith, and Zak MacNaught, who contributed one a piece.

St. Marys was unable to stop the Legionnaires from sending pucks towards the net, and Sarnia eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

The Legionnaires were led by Jason Teschke, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Teschke scored the first of his two goals at 8:00 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Sarnia. Matt Cimetta assisted on the tally. Teschke's next tally made the score 4-3 Sarnia with 16:22 left in the third period. Steve Farlow provided the assist. Sarnia also got points from Farlow, who also registered one goal and one assist. Sarnia also got a goal from Nathan Mater as well. More assists for Sarnia came via cody slaght, who had two and Jeff King and Davis Boyer, who each chipped in one.

Jacob Theut made 38 saves for the Lincolns on 42 shots. St. Marys totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. For the Lincolns, Dylan Bedard was ejected from the game. Andrew Ganter rejected 21 shots on goal for Sarnia. The Legionnaires totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Sarnia ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Derek D`Andrea was ejected from the game.
